In addition to normal length articles, there is a special option for publication of a research note, no more than two printed pages.

This is useful when it is intended to do further work in the area, but believed that preliminary findings should be placed on record. It is expected that it will be several years before the work can be completed and reported.

Sometimes also a particular finding can be reported in just two printed pages.
There is no abstract, but allowance must be made for title, author listing, tables and figures (if any).

After provision for the title and author listing, about 600 words can be allowed for the report stage, headings, table and figures (if any) and references.
