Q. Is there a format I need to follow for reviews?
A. We have no particular requirement for reviews. Whether you send specific comments or just general thoughts is up to you, and you may find this depends on how confident you are with the subject matter. Sometimes authors like to make comments on the manuscript itself, which is also fine.

Q. I am not familiar with the discussion forum on your website. What is the difference between this and emailing my comments to you?
A. The online discussion forum is just a way for reviewers to post their comments in a format which the author can access directly. Reviewer comments on the discussion forum are posted in isolation, but you can add to these over time while the discussion is open if you wish. If you feel uncomfortable about sending your thoughts in this way, we would be happy for you to email your comments to editor@sbp-journal.com. Your comments would then be passed onto the author after an editorial decision has been made.

Q. How are articles scheduled for publication?
A. Articles are scheduled for publication in order of receipt of the author share publication amount and feedback on page proofs. When a revised manuscript is submitted to us, a tentative scheduling is then given, however this date may be brought forward with prompt processing of the author share publication amount and page proofs once these become available.

Q. What does the author share publication amount pay for?
A. If the paper is accepted, the author share publication amount is put towards part of the cost of publication, detailed sub-editing, setting, initial copy editing, airmailing proofs to authors, printing, collating and binding etc of an authors own paper in SBP Journal.

Q. How can I reduce the author share publication amount I need to pay?
A. We suggest that authors look at the possibilities of reduction of their manuscripts. We suggest the following: to obtain a rough estimate of printed page length, note that there is space for approximately 400 words or equivalent per page. Allowance must be made for title and abstract (0.8 or 4/5 of a page), references, tables and figures, as well as headings etc. To minimize author share payment costs, some authors choose, and are able to effect an appropriate reduction in the length of their manuscripts.

Q. As an author, do I need to contribute to the online discussion?
A. The online discussion forum is just a way for reviewers to post their comments in a format which the author can access directly. Reviewer comments on the discussion forum are posted in isolation, but can be added to over time while the discussion is open. As an author you are welcome to post responses to reviewers if you wish to do so, however, you are not required to do so.

Q. Do I need to submit a revised manuscript to you, and if so, when?
A. There is no need to upload or email a revised manuscript at any time during the review period. Once the review period is over, you will receive notification from us as to whether your manuscript needs to be revised, and what the next steps will be as we move towards publication.

Q. I cannot find a particular article anywhere on your website, please help!
A. Please note that there are two journals with similar titles, Journal of Social Behavior and Personality (JSBP) and Social Behavior and Personality: An international journal (SBP) (which is us). The article you are requesting from us may be from the former (JSBP), who have now ceased publication. Try entering the article details into our search engine, and if this still does not appear, the article may have been published by JSBP.

JSBP was established after our journal and was based in California. JSBP does not have a website, but we believe their contact details to be:

PO Box 37
Corte Madera, CA
USA 94976-0037
Email: SelectPR@aol.com
